Edgewood School Closed due to Power Outage – February 3rd

The power has been out in Edgewood since midnight and is not due to be back on until noon today. The BC Hydro power outages website verifies this information.
As a result, after this many hours without power, the school has no back up emergency lights and has had no heat since the 19 degree night pre-set shut off.
This situation fits with the draft winter conditions protocol for school closure which has been shared with EES parents:  that as the power was off the evening before, and is not due to be back on when school begins in the morning, there is concern for heat and emergency communication.
As a result, the School Principal has activated the parent phone tree and parents are being alerted not to send their children to school today.
As we were unable to reach the bus driver,  the bus may run but parents are being advised not to send their children to school as the school  will be closed for the day.
