Nakusp Elementary is a K-7 school nestled in the village of Nakusp on the beautiful Arrow Lake. The school motto at Nakusp Elementary is “learning is in our nature”, and students, staff and parents live this credo. Hands-on learning, outdoor education, and learning from community and service learning, are all at the heart of the many ways children learn at NES.
Located in the West Kootenay region of BC, NES has approximately 170 students in Kindergarten through Grade 7, along with a vibrant Strong Start program for early learners and their families.
NES maintains high academic standards, with our students performing well both in the district and in the province.
Staff at Nakusp Elementary organize a rich variety of learning experiences including cultural events, skiing lessons, artist residencies, outdoor recreation, environmental education, and community service.
The Bonnington Arts Centre, a school and community facility is also part of the school, with music and fine arts learning for students in this fine and performing arts space.
