Dual Credit Programs: A Head Start on Post-Secondary
Dual Credit programs give B.C. students the opportunity to earn high school and post-secondary credits at the same time. Offered in partnership between school districts and colleges, universities, or industry training authorities, these programs help students get a head start on their career or post-secondary pathway—while still in high school.
Why choose Dual Credit?
While taking a Dual Credit program is a big commitment, it is also a fantastic opportunity.
- Students enrolled in some Dual Credit programs are able to earn entry-level certification and be employment-ready when they graduate from grade 12.
- Tuition is paid for dual credit programs; books may also be paid for.
- Dual credit programs are supported by secondary school staff, potentially making the transition to Post-Secondary easier for students.
- Students have the opportunity to take courses not available at their secondary schools.
Who can take Dual Credit programs?
Students in grades 11 and 12 are eligible to take Dual Credit courses and programs after consultation with their school counsellor, completion of a three-year graduation transition plan, and completing a Dual-Credit Application Package.
