Phased Return to School following Winter Break

On December 29th, 2021, BC Education Minister Jennifer Whiteside announced in a provincial briefing that there will be a phased approach for returning to school following the winter break. The delay will give the province time to better assess the impacts of the Omicron variant, and to develop enhanced safety measures that will assist school districts and staff to prepare for implementing enhanced health and safety measures.

Important information that was shared in the briefing include:

  • All students will return to school on January 10th.
  • Staff will return to work on January 4th.
  • Children of essential workers, such as health care workers, will be able to attend school beginning on January 5th. For more information, please contact your school principal.

As information is finalized and distributed by the Ministry of Education, this information will be shared with our students and families. We will be sending updates out as they are received to ensure that everyone is prepared for a safe return to school.
